When and where does the race take place?
The race is on Sunday, September 10, 2017. The starting line is in Mountain Lake Park, near the 12th Avenue and Lake Street entrance. The race begins at 8am sharp. View the detailed course

Can I walk the race?
Yes! Jog in the Fog welcomes runners and walkers.

What does it cost to enter the race?
Race entry is $45 per person (age 13 and up). Your race entry includes a bib number and a race t-shirt featuring a design by neighborhood artist Andy George.

Click here for online registration. Race day registration will also be available at the start line in Mt. Lake Park beginning at 7am (assuming the race does not sell out in advance).

Racers age 12 and under can participate for free (pre-registration is encouraged but not required; see details below). T-shirts are available for children for $10 through our online registration. Visit the event registration page to order.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Richmond District YMCA. Race registration fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to make the race, we can transfer your registration to another person. Please contact us.

Can children participate in the race?
Yes, they can and it’s free! We welcome children of all ages that can walk or run on their own during the race. Racers age 12 and under can register for free in advance online (where youth size t-shirts can be purchased for $10) or at the start on race morning. Their parent or guardian will be asked to sign a waiver and once that’s completed, they’ll receive their free race bib (note that kids’ bibs will not include digital timing).

Note that for safety reasons, strollers, baby joggers, rollerskates / rollerblades, skateboards and bicycles are not allowed in the race. So anyone that participates must be able to walk on their own (or be carried by a parent). Children 12 and under participating in the race must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18.

Where can I pick up my race number and t-shirt?
We will offer pre-race bib and t-shirt pickup on Saturday, September 9 at A Runner’s Mind, 3575 Sacramento Street near Locust, from 10am until 5pm.

You can also pick up your race bib in Mountain Lake Park on the morning of the race beginning at 7am (race start is at 8am sharp). T-shirts will be available for pick-up at the finish line area.

And yes, you can pick up another person’s bib for them, no special ID required.

Is the race timed?
Yes, the race will be professionally timed by ARM Productions. Your timing chip will be part of your race bib (both adults and children). Trophies will be given out to the Top Male, Top Female, Top Boy (12 & under) and Top Girl (12 & Under).

What does the race t-shirt look like?
To the right is a mock of 2015’s t-shirt featuring the race logo designed by neighborhood artist Andy George. Shirts will be available in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large (and youth sizes are also available to purchase during online registration). You can select your t-shirt size during registration.

What is the course? How long is it? How long will it take me to run or walk it?
The course is 3.4 miles in length, and is mostly flat terrain but there are some hills and stairs in the Lands End portion of the course. View the detailed course map here (note that Google Maps think it’s longer than 3.4 miles but we’ve clocked it with a GPS, it’s 3.4). An average runner, maintaining a 10-12 minute mile, will complete the course in 30-45 minutes. Typically walkers average 15-20 minute miles, which equates to a total time on the course of 50 to 70 minutes. The course will officially close at 10:30am.

Will there be a bag drop at the race?
No, we will not be collecting or transporting any personal belongings for racers. You will be responsible for carrying any clothing, water or post-race items with you.

Are dogs allowed in the race?
We’re sorry but for safety reasons, dogs, even on leash, are not allowed to participate in the race.

Are bikes or strollers allowed on the course?
For safety reasons, bicycles and strollers/baby joggers are not permitted in the race. Children under 12 can join the race for free, but they must be able to complete the course on their own two feet.

Is there parking at the race start?
There is no special parking designated for the race. Street parking in the neighborhood may be available, but we advise walking, biking or taking public transportation to the race start in Mountain Lake Park (near the 12th & Lake entrance).

Will there be bike parking at the start?
There is no special bike parking or bike valet service at the race.

How do I get home from the finish line?
Well, you run back, silly. We’re just kidding! If some kind soul won’t be coming to pick you up, you can hop on MUNI to head back toward the start. The closest 38 Geary bus stop is located at 48th Avenue and Point Lobos, just a couple of blocks from the finish line. Buses run every 15-20 minutes. See the 38 Geary schedule
